KEY POINTS FROM PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S VISIT TO THE CHOLERA TREATMENT CENTER AT HEROES STADIUM

Today, His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema visited citizens admitted to the Cholera treatment Center at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Below are the highlights:

✅ The President commended health workers, Ministry of Health, Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), other ministries and partners including volunteers for their continued care and support for those affected by the Cholera epidemic.

✅ He also commended partners who have come on board to donate various commodities in the fight against Cholera.

✅ He, on behalf of Government, offered condolences to families that have lost their loved ones to Cholera.

✅ He further urged Zambians to avoid throwing garbage anyhow noting that this is a major cause dirt on the streets of Lusaka and others.

✅ The President reiterated his call for all to stand together rather than politicise the cholera situation in the country.

✅ Meanwhile, the President has advised young people to refrain from excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages and do things that will better their future.

✅ And the President has directed the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to ensure that property owners maintain high levels of hygiene.

✅ During the same tour Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo appealed to Lusaka residents to avoid unnecessary movements to curb the transmission of the highly contagious Cholera outbreak.

✅ The Minister has also advised people visiting the Cholera centre to ensure that they are disinfected so that the transmission of the devasting waterborne disease is not exacerbated further.

✅ She attributed the high number of cholera fatalities to people delaying seeking medical attention, hence many succumbing to the disease. See less
