A Heartfelt Appeal to President Hakainde Hichilema:
I write to you today with a heavy heart, burdened by the plight of Honourable Nixon Chilangwa, a man who has lost everything that truly matters in life.
As you may be aware, Honourable Chilangwa has been incarcerated, serving a five-year sentence. This has resulted in him losing his seat as a Member of Parliament, his freedom, and most tragically, his beloved wife.
In a remarkable display of compassion, the authorities granted him a temporary release to mourn his wife. This gesture, though poignant, served as a stark reminder of the immense pain and suffering he endures.
As a nation that proudly proclaims itself Christian, I implore you, Mr. President, to consider Honourable Chilangwa’s case with mercy and compassion. Just as you demonstrated leniency in the case of Mr. GBM, I beg of you to extend a similar gesture of goodwill to this grieving man.
Honourable Chilangwa’s story is one of unspeakable sorrow. He has been left with nothing but his faith and his children. I urge you, sir, to release him from prison, that he may begin anew, care for his children, and rebuild his shattered life.
In the name of God, I beseech you to show mercy to this broken man. May your heart be moved by his plight, and may you grant him the gift of freedom, compassion, and a second chance at life.
