GOVT WON’T TOLERATE NKANA FANS’ VIOLENCE – NKANDU

The FOX Newspaper

Government has issued a stern warning to Nkana FC supporters following violent scenes during the Kitwe Derby at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. Over 500 seats were vandalised by enraged fans after a last-minute penalty awarded to Power Dynamos led to a 1-1 draw. Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Elvis Nkandu described the behaviour as “unZambian” and said it undermines government efforts to maintain the country’s only FIFA-certified stadium.

Nkandu said the destruction not only poses a risk to hosting future international matches but also places a heavy financial burden on the state. He warned that repeated violence could force Zambia to play home matches in foreign countries. While Nkana fans triggered the chaos, the minister acknowledged some Power Dynamos supporters also threw bottles. He urged fans to express dissatisfaction peacefully and promised enhanced security at future games.
