RESIGN AS HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONER, STATE HOUSE TELLS LAURA MITI

State House has advised civil society activist and President Hakainde Hichilema’s social-media supporter, Laura Miti from her position as Human Rights Commissioner.

Writing using a pseudonym name called Margaret Mwanza, which is one of the names used under State House rogue media, Koswe,MITI has been told to stop eating with both hands.

Laura Miti’s Political Hypocrisy and The Self-Appointed Saint Who Bites the Hand That Feeds Her

By Magret Mwanza

As Zambia approaches the 2026 elections, Laura Miti has become a master of playing both sides, positioning herself as a self-righteous critic while conveniently ignoring the reality that she owes her current position to the UPND government.

Her selective outrage, disguised as activism, reeks of opportunism rather than genuine governance advocacy. If she finds the administration she serves so unbearable, why hasn’t she resigned?

The answer is simple *—Miti thrives on chaos, using her position to elevate herself while pretending to be Zambia’s last honest voice.*

In February 2025, she accused President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration of being  “bad at hiring and firing,” implying that incompetence had taken over government appointments.  *“How can he be so bad at hiring and firing, or so at ease with incompetence?” she questioned.*

Coming from someone who sits on the Human Rights Commission thanks to the very government she now trashes, the hypocrisy is staggering.

If she truly believed the UPND was incapable of running government, she should have declined the appointment.

Just a month earlier, in January 2025, she declared that *the UPND was in a state of “intoxication and confusion” as elections approached.* The claim was both reckless and misleading, painting a picture of a government that had lost its way. But where was this energy when she was reaping the benefits of her appointment?

Why did she suddenly wake up to this ‘confusion’ only when elections were near? The answer is obvious—Miti’s game is to remain relevant, and the best way to do that is to criticize the government that elevated her.

Miti has also been vocal about the UPND’s communication failures, calling the party *“terrible at explaining what is happening.”* While it is true that government communication can always improve, her statement suggests she is more interested in fueling public discontent rather than offering solutions.

This is the classic tactic of an opportunist—identify a weakness, exploit it, and use it to build personal political capital.

Beyond communication, Miti has also dipped her toes into corruption allegations. In a viral video, she dramatically read a statement from Dr. O’Brien Kaaba, *accusing the UPND of rampant corruption.* But if corruption is as bad as she claims, why hasn’t she distanced herself from the government she serves?

*The truth is, Miti enjoys the privilege of being an insider while simultaneously pretending to be an outsider. She wants to be seen as a fearless activist, but without making the sacrifice of stepping down, what a tragedy foolishness.*

Even on economic matters, Miti has taken a contradictory stance. She acknowledged that the previous Patriotic Front government was “an administration from hell” but still finds every opportunity to attack the UPND’s economic policies.

*The question then becomes, if PF was so disastrous, and UPND is still trying to clean up their mess, why is she so impatient?* Is it really about governance, or is she simply preparing her next political move?

Miti’s pattern is clear—she thrives on controversy, positioning herself as the moral authority while keeping one foot inside government and the other in the opposition space.

This is not activism; this is foolish strategic political maneuvering that we all know. If Laura Miti truly believes in accountability, she should first hold herself accountable and resign.

Otherwise, her words are nothing more than the hollow rhetoric of an opportunist seeking attention before 2026.
