I CAN’T PLOT AGAINST A PRESIDENT I WILLINGLY HANDEDOVER POWER – LUNGU
…I’m Never Associated With Bloodshed

Sixth President Edgar Lungu has rubbished reports linking him to plots against his successor Hakainde Hichilema the current President of Zambia.

Lungu who has returned back to active politics and announced would actively participate in 2026 elections has described the reports as malicious.

“Let us avoid political malice and contemptuous propaganda,” Lungu states.

Lungu wonders how he would plot against a person he willingly handed over power in 2021.

Lungu handed power following a defeat by his political rival he had beaten twice in 2015 and 2016 elections.

“How can l plot against a president l willingly & peacefully handed over power to? As a Christian, patriot and nationalist, I am never associated with bloodshed or war anywhere! #LetPeace&LoveRule,” Lungu who is out of the country stated in a brief post seen by Zambian Eye.

He has been out of Zambia since January 2025 on a medical trip. He has vowed that his Tonse Alliance, a grouping of the Opposition shall win the 2026 elections.
