UPND Media Director Applauds Zambia’s Improved Corruption Perceptions Index Score
By Alice Lubasi
UPND Media Director, Cheelo Katambo, says the continued improvement of Zambia’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) score is a clear testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Mr. Katambo says with the 2024 CPI score rising to 39, up from 37 in 2023, Zambia has now recorded two significant improvements within just three and a half years.
He says the bold trajectory sets a strong precedent for attracting increased Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
Mr. Katambo says President Hakainde Hichilema has continued to champion the fight against corruption and the misuse of public resources, as evidenced by the arrest and prosecution of both past and present perpetrators of corrupt practices.
In a statement to ZNBC News, Mr. Katambo says a key pillar of this fight has been the establishment of the Economic and Financial Crimes Court, which has expedited the prosecution of corruption-related cases, ensuring that justice is served swiftly and effectively.
He said by fostering a governance environment that prioritizes integrity, accountability, and fairness, the UPND government has positioned Zambia as a trusted and attractive destination for global investment.
