It is understandable that some supporters will go to great lengths to defend the indefensible, but let’s stick to the facts:
1. Is Mealie Meal Really Cheap?
Claiming that “there is cheaper mealie meal” is an attempt to mask reality. Even the so-called ‘cheaper’ mealie meal is still expensive for the majority of Zambians. Prices have soared beyond K300 per bag, making it difficult for ordinary citizens to afford. The government’s failure to properly manage reserves and prioritize food security is the real issue.
2. Fuel Prices – A Global Issue or a Leadership Problem?
It is misleading to compare Zambia’s fuel situation to South Africa. South Africa has a higher GDP, better infrastructure, and a stronger currency. Zambia’s economy is fragile because UPND has failed to implement sound economic policies. Saying “fuel is expensive everywhere” ignores the fact that other African nations with similar challenges are managing their economies better.
3. Inflation – A Global Problem or Local Mismanagement?
Yes, inflation affects many countries, but responsible governments implement policies to cushion their citizens. UPND has instead increased taxes, removed subsidies, and failed to control the kwacha depreciation, which has worsened inflation. Other nations facing economic pressures are providing relief to their people—why can’t UPND?
4. KBF & Zambia Must Prosper – A Threat to UPND?
The personal attack on KBF’s electability only shows fear. If he was not a sellable candidate, why are UPND supporters so concerned? People said the same about HH before 2021, yet here we are. The truth is, Zambians are looking for alternative leadership because UPND has proven that it cannot deliver.
Final Thought: Let’s Debate Issues, Not Defend Failure!
Zambians are tired of excuses, propaganda, and blind loyalty to a government that is failing them. The cost of living is unbearable, and no amount of defensive arguments can change that. It’s time for real solutions, not just blaming external factors!
