CHOMA MAN SHOT WHILE ASLEEP WITH WIFE, WAS ACTUALLY KILLED BY MEN HIRED BY WIFE
The wife of a 48-year-old deceased man from Meeke village in Macha chiefdom of Choma district who was shot whilst in bed on 6th January 2025 has confessed to hiring a hitman to carry out the act.
The incident was initially reported to Macha Police Post by Agrippa Malawo, 61, of Ntomba-Banyama village in Kalomo’s Chikanta chiefdom, indicating that his younger brother, John Muchindu, was shot dead by an unknown person through a bedroom window.
An updated statement availed to Byta FM News by Southern Province Deputy Commissioner of Police Moono Namalongo indicates that the wife of the deceased, identified as Lillian Muleya, aged 39, was summoned for interviews on 14th January 2025.
Namalongo notes that after failing to answer questions, Muleya confessed to hiring a man only identified as Kagonkwa of Chubo village in Dundumwezi area in Kalomo district to k!ll her husband.
Muleya admitted that she decided to have him killed on suspicion that he had bewitched their 18-year-old daughter.
Namalongo notes that Muleya revealed she travelled to Kalomo district in 2024 to meet the assailant, who agreed to be paid an ox for the k!lling.
The arrangement included providing full information on the house setup and timing the execution.
On the day of the murder, she ensured her husband was asleep and left the bedroom window open.
After the shooting, she covered her husband with a blanket until he died, then pretended she had been sleeping next to him when she called for her son.
A warn and caution statement was recorded, with Muleya detained for murder while a manhunt for the assailant continues.
Namalongo has appealed for anyone with information leading to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of the firearm to report to the nearest police station.
