53-YEAR-OLD MAZABUKA MAN BÜRNT TO DEATH
A 53-year-old man of Makalanguzu Compound in Mazabuka District, Southern Province, has been burnt to death after fire swept through his house.
The fire is believed to have started from a cigarette left by suspected criminals.
The relatives have identified the deceased as Peter Mukonka who was staying alone at a rented house in the same area.
They have disclosed that the incident happened around 02:00hrs on Sunday 17th March 2024.
According to his nephew, Kelvin Mukonka, the deceased was not feeling well as he had mental illness challenges, and that on Saturday 16th March 2024, his condition became worse.
Mr. Mokonka narrates that he was informed of the house being on fire by the deceased’s landlord.
Meanwhile, Southern Province Police commissioner, Auxensio Daka, has confirmed the incident to Diamond News.
