1 suspect arrested in Chipo Mwanawasa bullying case – Police

INSPECTOR General of the Zambia Police Service Graphel Musamba has issued a stern warning to both online and physical bullies making false allegations against Chipo Mwanawasa, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU).

Musamba revealed that one suspect has already been arrested in connection with the incident but he did not reveal the name of the suspect.

“These attacks border on criminality and will be treated with the seriousness they deserve,” Musamba stated.

He confirmed that police officers have successfully apprehended one individual, who is now in custody, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend others involved in the matter.

“We currently have one suspect in custody related to these attacks, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects. The public is urged to remain calm and allow the police to carry out investigations diligently,” Musamba said.

Musamba further appealed to citizens to refrain from commenting on or sharing unverified information about the case, warning that doing so could interfere with the investigation and cause unnecessary alarm.

“Furthermore, we are aware of a certain opposition party that has initiated media propaganda related to this case. We remind all individuals and groups, regardless of affiliation, that we are closely monitoring such activities,” he added.

Musamba warned that if any actions cross into criminal conduct, the police would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute those responsible.

“The Zambia Police Service remains committed to upholding law and order and ensuring that justice is served. We call upon all citizens to cooperate with the police by avoiding inflammatory remarks and leaving the investigative process to the authorities,” said Musamba…https://kalemba.news/local/2024/10/17/1-suspect-arrested-in-chipo-mwanawasa-bullying-case-police/
