PF SG ORDERS SHOPRITE CHECKERS AND AIRTEL TO CHANGE RED ‘UPND’ COLOURS
By Richard Aaron Ngoma
PF Secretary General Davies Mwila has officially written to Airtel Zambia and Shoprite Checkers Zambia Limited, to immediately change their corporate colours of red, because they are in sync with the UPND party colours. Sources who are familiar with the incident but agreed to speak on condition they were not identified, said Mwila’s letter was very upbeat and categorical, accusing the two International entities of being UPND fronts by heightening their promotion campaigns based on the red colours, especially as the 2021 election campaign hots up.
“The boss’s letter was uncompromising. He accused Shoprite and Airtel of engaging in a subte campaign of promoting UPND in the mind of the Zambian people through the use of the red colour which is the official colour of opposition party”, intimated the source.
Shoprite and Airtel have outlets in most Zambian Townships and rural outposts dotted across the country, and this to the PF SG appears to be inimical to the interests of the ruling party. The two companies are however very popular with Zambians.
This attack by PF could cause further complications in a frosty relationship between the party and ordinary citizens that are already struggling with high cost of food, countless taxes, unbridled corruption, PF violence and theft of public resources by the ruling party.
