Age Saves Juvenile From Death Sentence

The Lusaka High Court has ordered that the Juvenile offender who murdered 20 year old Sebastian Lungu at JCS Chinese market should be sent to Katombora Reformatory Center for counseling and rehabilitation.

In this matter facts are that on April 6 2019, the Juvenile offender stabbed Sebastian Lungu on the neck after a drinking spree.

With regards the age of the offender, High Court Judge Ennesie Banda Bobo says she has come to a conclusion that the offender is 18 years old and committed the crime when he was 17 years old.

Judge Bobo has also ordered that a report of counselling should be sent to Social Welfare every after six months and the Juvenile offender should be enrolled in school.

The Juvenile offender will spend four years at Katombora Reformatory Center.

However, mother of the deceased could not comment on the judgment saying no outcome can bring back her son.
